Ask Jeff Anything: There are always a lot of things happening. To allow for a more open and general discussion I at first held separate working sessions with the board. That resulted in a lot of meetings, which not everyone liked. I condensed the format into a single meeting incorporating decision and discussion items. That blurred the lines for some people on how open things were for conversational comment while in a meeting where business items were being decided on. This experimental meeting will be with just me. The purpose is that anyone can come and ask me anything. I reserve the right to respond or not respond to my heart's content, but I am open to any questions. Q&A Gathering will be held August 16th, 2021 - 6pm at Dalton Township Hall (1616 E. Riley Thompson Rd. Muskegon, MI 49445)

Election Recount Questions and Clarification -
On election night, August 4, 2020, there were more AV (absentee ballots) than could be contained by the provided pre-certified red and blue bag. A retention bag was provided for the remaining ballots, it was inspected and sealed with the State provided seals. All sealed ballot bags were locked in the Township Hall’s vault, as is policy, until being provided for the recount on August 27, 2020.
The County Board of Canvassers declared the retention bag as not certifiable, therefore it could not be opened nor the ballots recounted. The ballot results stand per Election Day - no recount will occur of those two specific AV precincts.
The Township immediately purchased additional certifiable ballot bags to accommodate increased AV voting and prevent this issue in the future.
These are the facts.
