Open Position: Head of Maintenance and Grounds

Head of Maintenance and Grounds

The job requires flexibility, initiative, and independent problem solving. There's a lot to keep up with. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, removing leaves and brush, cutting grass, washing and cleaning buildings inside and out, and maintaining equipment for two cemeteries, four parks, one welcome sign, two lake channels, one bike path, one horse trail, one township hall, one fire department, and other assigned township concerns, such as replacing street signs.

In the winter snowplowing is important, especially for the fire department, which has to be done on a timely basis so that there are not ice ridges near the bay doors which can cause the trucks to slide, and therefore is an on-call 24/7 job in the winter for which you have to track the weather conditions.

Elections are important township events. In addition to moving equipment for testing and updating before each election, and setup a couple of days before and after the election, the election days themselves are double shifts.

In the summer we hire some additional seasonal employees to help keep up with mowing, leaves, etc. You will need to be able to price things out, plan projects, carry them out by yourself, and when other personnel are on the payroll direct them as well.

There is a newly created Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee that you will interact with to make recommendations on projects and budgeting to the Board of Trustees.

During hiring we do a background check and send you for a physical.

Benefits are in addition to pay.
